OUR STORY
The Unexpected Pit Bull, a not-for-profit organization, was founded in 2004 by Jyo Buyyala.
Jyo's idea was simple: to support her local animal shelter while dispelling myths and rumors surrounding her favorite dogs.
Driven by a desire to remind people of her cause every day, all year long, she teamed with photographer Laura Moss.
Together, Jyo and Laura produced, then promoted, the inaugural 2005 edition of The Unexpected Pit Bull calendar.
A 2006 edition followed... then 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2010... each one improving upon the previous year's sales, reach, and impact.
Today, The Unexpected Pit Bull remains steadfast in its commitment to Pit Bull rescue, education, and advocacy.
OUR MISSION
By illustrating stories of Pit Bulls sharing their lives with a variety of people and animals, we hope to inspire a better understanding and appreciation of pit bulls, and combat the negative stereotype held against these dogs.
In doing so, our aim is to ...
...keep Pit Bulls with the people who love them and far away from the ones who don t.
...fund Pit Bull-specific legal, rescue, advocacy, and education initiatives throughout North America.

This calendar is exactly what I was looking for. Gorgeous, professional quality photographs that feature actual rescued Pit Bulls, showing them to be the sweeties they are. And each month also contains the back story of the dog in the photo, which touches my heart. All the profit goes to Pit Bull Advocacy and Rescue. Highly recommended.

This calendar was everything I expected and more. Its photography is astounding and so are the dogs and their stories featured within. There are a multitude of adorable and gorgeous photos of these brilliant dogs throughout the calendar. It's the perfect calendar size with large boxes for plenty of room for writing, and wonderful quality. But above all, its message is incredibly touching and very evident. These dogs are so misunderstood, and this calendar perfectly portrays the loving, gentle giants they almost always are. My favorite part is of course the fact that all of the proceeds go to pit bull charity! If you want an amazing product featuring the best and most loving dog breed out there, and want to feel great knowing that the money spent goes to a good cause for dogs that need you, this calendar is for you. :) Thank you so much to those who took the time to create this calendar for this incredible purpose, I couldn't be happier with it!

This calendar looks beautiful, rich and is of top notch quality! It's a good size calendar and the paper is high quality.....not to mention the photographs of these majestic dogs are exceptional! Each photo is actively "real life" looking and the dogs are not stiffly posed! Each page has a nice informational blurb as well! One of the best quality calendars I've bought in a long time and with the profits going to rescue more pit bulls you can't go wrong when you buy this calendar!
